Celtfest Cup Rugby Challenge Music alongside athletics was often a part of the Celts’ festive occasions. Celtfest 2007 marks the return engagement of the Eastern Ontario Rugby Union Division 2 match between two excellent mens teams – the Lanark Highlanders and the Bytown Beavers. The Highlanders were league champions in 2006, with the only loss in an otherwise undefeated season, coming at the hands of the Bytown team in the inaugural Celtfest Cup. This year, the Highlanders are out to bring the Cup, an attractive Stanley Cup-esque trophy back to Lanark. Spectators are more than welcome! The match goes at 2 pm. in the “upper” field, of Gemmill Park. At the match’s conclusion, the teams will be piped down to the Celtfest main stage for the Cup presentation. |
